Here we have father & son team Peter and Ben Wetstone from Chessington, Surrey with a couple of the fish they had during a recent trip to France.  It has taken us  a while to add the photos to the site as we were unsure about the clothing that Ben had been forced to wear for the photos, but after much soul searching we decided to add the photos as we know its not his fault.  Great fish Ben, this one went 36lb and Peters went 43lb 4oz.  Icelandic Red yet again.

Well done to both of you and thanks for the photos

Catch report in Jim Roberts words (top angling mate)

My 4 day session started one evening, with the first night being relatively quiet then around 7am on the following morning I had a good run which resulted in a 33lb mirror whilst the fish was in the net I tried to get somebody to come down and take some photos but then my middle rod roared off, sensing that it would be doubtful to get anybody to take the photos I released the 33 from the net and landed a 23lb 6oz mirror. Just as I was returning the fish my last rod signaled another take which was another 23 at 23lb 12oz, 3 fish in a session is pretty good but 3 in twenty minutes was un-believable. I put a little more bait out not wanting to spook anymore fish that was in the swim and about an hour later had another run weighing 24lb 11oz. The fish were obviously on the munch so having waited another hour to make sure there was no fear of spooking any fish in the swim I decided to bait quite heavily and put out around 12kg of particles, OPM boilies and OPM chops. I could hear fish topping in the area through the night and was totally amazed to awake at first light without any further action but I just knew if I left the area un-disturbed that one would make the mistake and at around lunch time I had a flyer of a take on the middle road which I knew as soon as I hooked it was one of the smaller residents of the lake which proved to be right as a fish of around 17lb was netted. I putt the rod back over the bait and topped it up with 5 spods. I sat back not really expecting another take in the heat of mid day sun but twenty minutes later a slow take on the same middle rod had me striking into a much heavier fish. This fish went on 3 runs each time taking 30-40 yards and was struggling to keep the fish in front of me, it kited down into the margins on my left hand side knowing there a few snags a pushed the rod underneath the water and played the fish for a good five minutes like this, eventually got the fish in front of me but could not get it off the bottom every time it seemed to be near the net it would power off again. It surfaced then I quickly realized what fish I was connected to – The Thorp Park common, this fish has only been caught once before this year and as they say my legs turned to jelly and I think I said a few prayers for the hook to stay in, it eventually rolled over the net cord with a big shout GET IN THERE. After gathering my thoughts I weighed it at 37lb 10oz really the weight is immaterial to this great wise fish, I took a few snaps, gave her a kiss and watched her swim away strongly.

The rest of the session passed away without incident but I was more then happy with just that one fish not to mention another thirty and three twentys, it was just one of those sessions were everything went right. Also I have say before this session I had in fact sent an e-mail to carp Company questioning the catch-ability of the OPM bait during the warmer months its certainly the best every winter/spring bait I have used resulting in numerous twenty pound fish and 5 fish over 30lb including 37lb and 39lb mirrors, and a 35lb common. Having gone through a patch of catching but only picking up the smaller residents during the last two months I wrongfully doubted the bait as a true all year bait which has totally been put right after this session. So another e-mail was sent to Carp-Company apologising for ever doubting the bait.
